The Wado Karate Union (WKU)
Founded in 1999 by Senseis Tony Heap 8th Dan & Gwyn Evans
7th Dan, the WKU is committed to teaching the very highest
standard of Wado Ryu Karate. Sensei Heap has practiced karate
for nearly 50 years. His instructors have included both Sensei
Hironori Ohtsuka and his son Jiro and most of the Japanese Wado
instructors who came to the UK in the 60s & 70s. Sensei
Evans is a well renowned karate instructor and a qualified judge
and referee of national and international standard. Sensei Evans
has practised Wado karate for over 45 years with many of the
world's top Japanese instructors. Sensei Evans teaches at all of
our Welsh dojos.

The WKU is proud to be a member of the EKF, which is a democratically elected body for English Karate to cover the whole spectrum of our martial art and to further develop an understanding body that listens to the needs of all the many aspects of Karate from Sport to Traditional, from the youngest beginner to the most senior instructor.
